Meet Soldotna Animal Hospital’s Veterinary Staff
Soldotna Animal Hospital’s staff is the strength of the practice. We would like you to meet them.
Sherrie Glad Egbert our lead receptionist, was born in Oregon and raised here on the Kenai Peninsula. She has been working as a veterinary receptionist since 1998. She was hired by Dr. Bowser in February 1999 and has been with Soldotna Animal Hospital ever since.
Sherrie and husband, Bill, have three dogs and two cats. Two of their dogs, Cori and Gemma, are trained in dog agility and all three dogs have their Canine Good Citizen certification through the AKC.
Receptionist Cristie Quiner was born and raised in Oregon. She, along with husband Patrick and daughters, Kyndra and Athalia moved to Alaska in June 2005. She and her family have two dogs, Bruin and Pandora, and two cats, Mango and Monster.

Soldotna Animal Hospital welcomed Wendy Streiff as a receptionist in July 2010, and she enjoys meeting and greeting the clients and their pets.
Wendy, husband Larry, and their 3 sons, moved to Alaska in 1985. Their family now includes 10 grandchildren as well as dogs, Dottie, Willow and Penny, and cats, Socks and Minnie.
Amy Rogde, licensed veterinary technician, started working as a kennel technician in 1997. After moving to Soldotna, she joined Dr. Bowser and staff in 2001. Amy received her veterinary technician license in 2002.
Amy was born and raised in the Lake Iliamna area. She grew up taking part in commercial fishing in Bristol Bay. She and her husband, Mike, have a Springer Spaniel named Tucker and two horses.
Barbara Cameron, veterinary technician, was born and raised in Connecticut. She and her husband, Nelson, followed their lifelong dream and moved from Sterling, Connecticut to Sterling, Alaska in 2005. She joined our staff in August 2005.
The long drive from Connecticut included dogs, Keisha and Onyx, and cats, Crissy, Aries and Whine. A new dog, Aleutia, joined the family in 2007.
Pernilla “Nilla” Ekstrom-Rypka, licensed veterinary technician, was born and raised in Storvik, Sweden. Nilla has had a lifelong interest in animals and veterinary care, leading to her attending the University of Minnesota, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science. She joined Soldotna Animal Hospital in March 2006.
Nilla and her husband, Jeff, moved to Alaska from Minnesota in February 2006. They currently have four horses, a beagle named Jasmine, and a cat, Buddy.
Yvonne Leutwyler, licensed veterinary technician, grew up in Switzerland. Before joining Soldotna Animal Hospital in May 2010, she worked as a veterinary technician in the Mat-Su Valley, and received her veterinary technician’s license in 2006.
Yvonne shares her life and home with a retired sled dog, Gimli.
Rebecca Hibbard, veterinary assistant, moved to Alaska with husband, Jay, from North Carolina in 2007. She joined us at Soldotna Animal Hospital in 2008.
Rebecca and Jay enjoy the company of a miniature schnauzer name Bristle and a cat called Sneaky.
Kari Hansen, veterinary assistant, was born and raised in Kenai. Previously, Kari worked at Cat Tails Zoological Park in Washington State. We welcomed her to Soldotna Animal Hospital in 2008.
Kari is engaged to Rik Galley, and they have one cat named Shilo.
