Soldotna Animal Hospital has a state-of-the art surgical suite where our veterinarians perform procedures, including:

  • Laceration and wound repair
  • Reconstructive surgery

  • Orthopedic surgery
  • Endoscopic surgery

Soldotna Animal Hospital’s veterinarians maintain the highest standards of care for all surgical procedures. We use multi-modal anesthesia protocols to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for older or high-risk pet patients. Using modern equipment such as pulse oximetry, your pet’s vital signs are monitored by a trained veterinary technician who will remain with your pet through recovery.

Compassionate, Capable Surgical Care

We will perform pre-anesthetic blood tests to make sure your pet is well enough for the procedure. Intravenous (IV) catheters are always placed prior to surgery and IV fluids are routinely given. We administer a pre-anesthetic injection to calm anxiety. We have found that this results in needing to administer less anesthesia medication.

During any procedure, your pet is kept warm, and he or she is continually monitored throughout the surgery.

Routine surgeries may be postponed if an emergency case presents itself to us or if your pet is not well enough for the procedure. Unnecessary risks must be avoided and we take precautions to minimize potential complications. If there are problems, we will reschedule your pet for another time.
